GCB commissions 136th branch at KNUST… To expand customer base

The Ghana Commercial Bank (GCB) has opened a GH¢14.986 million office complex at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) junction in Kumasi, to cater for the banking needs of students and others living in the area.

The project, the 136th GCB branch to be established since 1953 when the bank began operations in Ghana, comes under its (KNUST) corporate strategic plan, dubbed PLAN2K14, to develop new physical infrastructure, in line with its vision of growth and modernisation.

It is the second branch of the bank on the KNUST campus, and the seventh bank to be operating there.

With the integration of the KNUST, in its new royal banking concept designed to reduce long queues in the banking halls, the GCB has provided facilities, including a banking hall, six cashier cages, bulk cash facility, vault, ATM slot, and CCTV among others

The hallmarks of the new royal banking concept are flexibility, speed, convenience and delivery of high quality customer service for all categories of customers who value their time, and want expedited service.

Mr. Franklin Asamoah, a Kumasi-based private legal practitioner and member of the Board of Directors of GCB, said at the commissioning that the new ultra modern branch would enhance business in the university, and surrounding communities

The Vice Chancellor of KNUST, Prof. Kwasi Kwafo Adarkwa, referred to the bank's flexibility in transacting business with clients. He hoped the bank would provide better and quality products, excellent services, and competitive pricing.

The project, for which architectural consultancy was provided by VERACHS, was executed by Consar Limited.

The Akyempimhene of Kumasi, Nana Adusei Poku, represented the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, at the commissioning ceremony, with Nana Wiafe Akenten III, Paramount Chief of the Offinso Traditional Area, as the Guest of Honour.
