Workshop on leather works ends at Breman Asikuma

The Asikuma-Odoben-Brakwa District Head of the Business Advisory Centre, Mr. Samuel Asiedu has called on individuals seeking assistance from the financial institutions to expand their jobs to form cooperative to qualify for the assistance.

Mr. Asiedu made the call during the close of a ten-day leather works training for 23 participants, made up of 21 males and 2 females from the district at Breman Asikuma organised by the Rural Enterprises Projects (REP) through the Business Advisory Centre (BAC).
He said, his office is always opened for people who needed advice on business and urged the people, especially the youth to take advantage of the programme to improve their socio-economic status.

Mr. Godfred Osei Dwamena, a private Leather Slippers manufacturer based in Kete Krakyi, who was the resource person, took the participants through slippers, footwear and belt making.
The district Coordinating Director, Mr. Antwi Boasiako, who deputized for the DCE, Mr. Emmanuel Adjei Domson, said the government was training the youth to be in gainful employment as part of its poverty reduce programme.

He expresses concern that most people in the district who had been trained in various vocations have abandoned their skills and have taken to other jobs despite the huge money spent on them.
