SAS Daily Report on the GSE (Jan 24, 2007)

Trading on the stock market yesterday was somewhat sluggish, underpinned by scant trading in only seven (7) out of the thirty-three (33) listed equities on the Exchange. A total volume of 9,500 shares valued at ¢48 million were traded during the session. The most actively traded equity was Cal Bank which traded 42% of the total volume traded whilst Enterprise Insurance traded the most by value accounting for 57% of the total value traded for the day.

At the close of trading today only one price change was recorded. Enterprise Insurance gained a cedi closing at ¢8,823. Hence, total market capitalization inched up by ¢30 million to ¢112,515.17 billion. The GSE-All Share Index however recorded no change, closing at 5009.65 points, which represents a year to date gain of 0.08%. The SAS Index also recorded no change closing at 727.33 points, representing a year date to gain of 0.08%.

There were unfilled bids in Fan Milk, Ecobank Ghana and Anglogold Ashanti Depository shares as trading came to a close. Outstanding however remained in BOPP, Cal Bank, CFAO, Clydestone and Ayrton Drug. Courtesy Alix Quashie, SAS
