Several public institutions, fintech, telcos and IT Operators win big at 2022 GITTA

Organisations excelling in the Public Sector, Banking, FinTech, Telecoms, ICT, Manufacturing, Agriculture, Health, and all other sectors involved in digitisation were honoured with awards at the 2022 Ghana Information Technology & Telecom Award (GITTA) at the end of a night of glamour and celebrations on Friday, October 21.

GITTA, now in its 12th year over the years has become the cornerstone event that promotes and celebrates Governments, IT Operators, ISPs, Infrastructure providers, Fintechs, Banks, and other stakeholders to share the progress of their successful ICT innovations, aiming to further enhance the Ghanaian community as part of the Government’s vision on a robust digital economy.

The award organised by Instinct Wave was created as a strategic platform to recognize, reward, and showcase the pioneering ICT initiatives driving the Ghanaian private and public sector innovation with a vision of setting a benchmark for the sub-region's wave of development in ICT.

Last Friday, another successful edition of the awards ceremony was held at the Movenpick Ambassador Hotel in Accra.

Delivering a welcome address to kick off the awards night, the CEO of Instinct wave, Mr. Akin Naphtal stressed that GITTA remains committed to promoting and celebrating governments, institutions, digital operators, and infrastructure providers among others.

“GITTA was created as a strategic platform to recognize, reward, and showcase the pioneering ICT initiatives driving the Ghanaian private and public sectors with a vision of setting a benchmark to the sub-regions wave of development in ICT.

“The prestigious annual ICT gala awards night has inspired and promoted further development, growth, and innovation of the country’s ICT industry as a regional leader,” he indicated.

Mr. Akin Naphtal also emphasised that through the platform, his outfit will continue to honour industry players driving change and development through digitalisation.

A special Guest for the event, the Deputy Minister for the Ministry of Communication and Digitalisation, Ms. Ama Pomaa-Boateng applauded Instinct Wave for growing the awards ceremony.

The Deputy Minister while praising the organisers also charged winners on the night to strive to achieve more in their fields in the digital economy for the benefit of the country.

While honouring winners of 2022 GITTA, Instinct Wave simultaneously at the event awarded winners of the 2022 Africa Digital Economy awards.

On the night, the Minister of Communications and Digitalisation, Hon. Ursula Owusu-Ekuful was named Digital Leader of the Year, an award she has now won back-to-back.

In the telecom space, MTN Ghana and AirtelTigo led the way in the awards.

The several awards won by MTN include; Network team of the year, Telecom Executive Team of the Year, and Customer Service Team of the Year.

While the company’s Chief Executive Officer Mr. Selorm Adadevoh picked the CEO of the Year award, the MTN Ghana Foundation was also honoured with the CSR in leadership award.

In the banking sector, ABSA bank and Prudential bank were named Innovative ATM enabler of the year and Emerging digital bank of the year awards respectively.

On the night, the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority, the Cyber Security Authority, and the National Communications Authority also won big after they were recognised with various top awards.
