CGIA Network Ghana holds one-day capacity building workshop for business and financial journalists

The Chartered Global Investment Analysts Institute and the CGIA Network Ghana on Saturday, February 20, 2021, held a one-day workshop in Accra to build the capacity of business and financial journalists.

The workshop dubbed the “Business and Financial Journalists Workshop" was held at the Erata Hotel in East Legon and saw journalists in the capital receiving training from business and financial experts working with the CGIA.

Leading the training, Mr. Isaac Charles Acquah who is the vice-chair at CGIA Network Ghana stressed the need for journalists to keep themselves updated on current business trends especially at a time when the world is depending so much on digitization.

According to him, the digital economy is taking over the traditional economy at a fast pace and there is the need for everyone in any part of the world to keep up in order not to be left behind.

Mr. Isaac Charles Acquah shared that business and financial journalists ought to search for information on current and emerging business trends in the digital economy to shape decisions taken by investors.

“You should as business and financial journalists provide information that will guide investors into taking decisions that will take them into the new digital age,” the CGIA Network Ghana vice-chair told journalists at the training.

Taking his turn to interact with journalists at the training, Chairman for communication and advocacy at CGIA, Mr. Ebenezer Asumang challenged business and financial journalists to cultivate the habit of research and make it a point to contact experts at CGIA when chasing a business story.

He said, “Whether we like it or not the digitization is happening. There is no way it will go back so we must tune ourselves and go alongside it.

“I’m throwing it back to you, business and financial journalists, research, find out, and tell us for us to tune our mind to know what is happening.”

At the training, Global Council Member for the Chartered Global Investment Analysts Institute, Sandeep Kumar joined via Zoom from India while President of the CGIA Network, Mr. Enoch S.K.O Wontumi was in attendance to assure business and financial journalists of the readiness of his outfit to build a good working relationship.
