COVID-19 Fight: NDC Parliamentary Aspirant Supports Akatsi South

A Parliamentary Aspirants in August 2019 of NDC Parliamentary Primaries in the Akatsi South Constituency, Mr. Samuel B. K. Nugblega has donated items worth one hundred and fifty thousand Ghana Cedis (GHC150,000.00) to the NDC party and various health facilities in the Akatsi South Constituency to augment the fight against the novel coronavirus pandemic.

Somali Officials Cannot Claim COVID-19 Information Monopoly, RSF And NUSOJ Say

Reporters Without Borders (RSF) and the National Union of Somali Journalists (NUSOJ) call on the Somali authorities, including federal member states and Somaliland, to refrain from claiming a monopoly of information about the coronavirus crisis and ensure that reporters can fulfil their vital role of informing the public in a free and independent manner.

Access to state-held information about the coronavirus crisis is becoming more and more difficult and closely controlled in Somalia. In Mogadishu, the federal government's ministry of health and human resources set the tone on 3 March when it summoned journalists to explain what to do and not to do during the COVID-19 crisis.

STEM Radio School: A Response To COVID-19 By Youth Bridge Foundation And Tullow Oil Ghana Limited

The Youth Bridge Foundation (YBF) with support from Tullow Oil Ghana Limited has launched the STEM Radio School in the Western Region as part of measures to complement Government’s efforts in ensuring that learning in the Basic, JHS, SHS and Tertiary education continues in the wake of the coronavirus (COVID-19).

The initiative under the Tullow funded “Educate to Innovate with STEM Project” will support the study of STEM through community radio stations among Junior High School students in the peri-urban and rural areas of six (6) coastal districts where Tullow operates, namely; Jomoro, Ellembelle, Nzema East and Ahanta West with scale-up plans to Sekondi-Takoradi and Shama Districts.

Coronavirus: KnB Company Supports Hwidiem Community

Efforts to fight the Coronavirus pandemic in Hwidiem, a small community in the Asante Akyem North District of the Ashanti Region have been boosted with the presentation of COVID-19 prevention items to residents within the town.

The items included 200 hand sanitizers, 15 Veronica buckets, 15 pieces of tissue and liquid soaps.

COVID-19: Hohoe MP Urged Govt To Assist Persons Living With HIV/AIDS

Member of Parliament for Hohoe, Dr Bernice Adiku Heloo has urged government to as a matter of urgency include Persons Living with HIV/AIDS in the ongoing social intervention programmes targeted at the poor and vulnerable as a result of the Covid-19 partial lockdown.

Government through the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection has started feeding, clothing and accommodating some 15, 000 head porters and homeless persons who have been displayed since the lockdown was pronounced.

Traditional Priests Declare Spiritual War Against COVID-19

Traditional Priests and Priestesses in the Ada Traditional Area of the Greater Accra Region have declared 'spiritual war' against the novel coronavirus pandemic.

According to the spiritual leaders, the deities of the area have called for a closure of the whole Ada Township on Wednesday April 8, 2020 at 9pm for a special traditional rites to be performed to block coronavirus from entering the traditional area.

CLONE - France: 541 people die from coronavirus in 24 hours

More than 500 people died from coronavirus in the last 24 hours in France, the health authorities announced on Wednesday evening. The Italian government also announced more than 500 people dead from Covid-19 since Tuesday. 

French Chief Medical Officer Jérôme Salomon said 541 people have died from coronavirus over the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of dead from Covid-19 to 10,869 people in France

The two popular markets in Kasoa in the Awutu Senya East Municipality are set to be closed down by the Municipal Chief Executive Executive (MCE), Hon Michael Essuman Mensah.

The closure was communicated in a release sighted by Modernghana.com, dated April 8, 2020 and takes effect April 8, 2020.

Effiduase-Asokore MP Supports COVID-19 Fight With Items Worth GHC30,000

As the world battles to contain and manage the novel coronavirus pandemic, outpouring of global solidarity and support has become a shared challenge.

It is against this backdrop that the Member of Parliament for Effiduase-Asokore constituency in the Ashanti Region, Dr. Nana Ayew Afriye, has moved in to distribute COVID-19 preventive items to residents in that area. The items, estimated at GH¢30,000, were made up of 40 boxes of alcohol-based sanitizers and 100 boxes of tissues.

District Public Health Education Committee Visit Health Centers To Ascertain Preparedness Against Coronavirus

On Monday, April 6, 2020, the District Public Health Emergency Committee (PHEC) visited all the health centers in all the major towns of the district to monitor and assess their preparedness and measures put down to fight coronavirus and if possible consider their challenges.

Visited centers included the Wamfie District Hospital, Wamanafo Health Center, Kyeremasu Presby Health Center, Akontanim Health Center, Dormaa Akwamu and Asuotiano Heath Centers with focal attention on their pre triage process, triage, holding rooms and locally proceedings and measures to protect health workers as well as persons accessing the facility’s service. Almost all the centers had one thing or the other in place in preparedness against the disease.
