I’m here now partly because of Bisa Kdei’s motivation — Gyakie

Fastest rising Ghanaian songstress, Gyakie, nicknamed "Songbird" has spoken highly of her inspirer, Bisa Kdei, Ghana’s astute highlife musician.

According to Gyakie, the true life shown to her by Bisa Kdei at the start of her career is something she can never forget in a hurry.

Bisa’s words of encouragement and recognition, to her, are a major reason she went all out to be who she is currently.

In an interview on Accra-based Onua FM's “Adwuma Adwuma” show with Felicia Osei, she stated, “When I was about to start the music, I had never met him before, but someone sent my video to him during an interview. I had just dropped ‘Never Like You'."

“He said, ‘Oh, there’s this new girl called Gyakie. She’s very talented. If she is watching this, you should tell her not to give up,” Gyakie recalled.

The “Sor mi mu” stressed, “Somebody that I hadn’t met before was encouraging me. When I saw that video, I was motivated because it was Bisa Kdei talking to me."

“Before I actually became known, he was a fan, from afar, as big as he is. That’s one thing I will never forget,” Gyakie concluded.
