'Ghana Athletics is not dead'- Reks Brobby
Accra, August 9, GNA - The Founder of Ghana Fastest Human Reks Brobby Tuesday said athletics in Ghana is on the rise and that 'it's not dead' in the country as perceived by some Ghanaians.
In an interview with the GNA Sports, he said, Ghana is benefiting from the investment made in the past by the Ghana Athletics Association (GAA), which has produced athletes like John Ampomah for javelin, triple jumpers', decathlon and many more.
'Ghana athletics was never dead,' he said. 'How can it be dead when we have all these rising stars? Like a farmer, when you plant a crop, you water it and also take out the weeds.
'During that time, nobody sees what you planted. Anyone who comes to your farm may think nothing is going on. But really you've planted and you are watering. Once the seed germinate and starts coming up people will see.'
Mr. Brobby reiterated his committed to the development of athletics in the country by ensuring that the sport becomes attractive to the youth.
Meanwhile, the search for the GNPC Ghana's Fastest Human continues this Saturday August 13 at the El- wak Stadium with participants competing in the Under 10, 15, 18 and the senior category.
The competition is open to people from the Greater Accra, Eastern and the Volta Regions.
