German-born Ghanaian defender Marcel Appiah on trial at Scottish side Hearts
German-born Ghanaian defender Marcel Appiah is trying out at Scottish side Hearts with a view of landing a permanent deal.
Appiah, 28, featured against Sunderland in a closed-door game at Riccarton over the weekend and continue with his training throughout this week.
The former Arminia Bielefeld versatile defender is seeking a fresh challenge after ending his two-year stint with Dutch side NEC Nijmegen.
Hearts head coach Robbie Neilson has confirmed he will take a decision on his future after the trial session.
"[Appiah] came in at the start of the week and played against Sunderland on Saturday and did well.he said
"We will assess him for the rest of the week and make a decision."
Appiah was born in Schwelm in Germany to a Ghanaian father and an Italian mother.
