Asamoah Gyan has always been my inspiration – Joel Fameyeh
Local Black Stars striker Joel Fameyeh has revealed that Ghana striker Asamoah has been his role model since he started playing the striking role.
Fameyeh, 19, registered a brace for the Local Black Stars in the first leg of the CHAN qualifiers with Ivory Coast to give Ghana hope with a 2-1 victory.
Ghana lost surrendered the first leg advantage to the Ivorians in the second leg after conceding a lone goal with twelve minutes to end the first half.
Fameyeh who failed to score in the second leg revealed his long standing love and admiration for Shanghai SIPG striker Asamoah Gyan.
'As a striker, and the captain of the Black Stars I always look up to him. He is someone who is able to lead the attack alone and score important goals as well,' Joel said.
'Looking at the way I also play, my class is just like him so I am happy that I have had a role model who is also the captain of the national team.'
The Asokwa Deportivo striker scored 36 goals in all competitions registering 28 goals in 26 GN Bank Division One matches, three goals in the MTN FA Cup with seven in the Elite Clubs Cup.
