Meet Dwarfs opponent Petro Atlético

Dwarfs will host Angolan side Petro Atletico in their first leg of the CAF Confederations' Cup clash at the Cape Coast sports stadium.

Atlético Petróleos de Luanda, best known as Petro Atlético de Luanda, or simply Petro Atlético or Petro de Luanda, is a traditional football club from Luanda, Angola.

The club was founded in 1980, and won its first title, the Angolan League, in 1982.

Four players from Petro Atlético represented Angola at their first World Cup in 2006: Lebo Lebo, Lamá, Zé Kalanga and Delgado.

The club has also a basketball team. Many basketball players of the team, participated with Angola national basketball team in the Olympics 2008.

Petro Atletico is the most successful football club in Angola. They play at the 50,000 capacity Estádio 11 de Novembro Luanda and are managed by Brazilian tactician Alexandre Grasseli – who took to the helm in 2013.

The Luanda-based club have won the Premier League (Girabola) 15 times, the FA Cup (Taça de Angola) 10 times – beating Desportivo da Huíla 1-0 in the final last year - and the Angolan Super Cup (SuperTaça de Angola) on 5 occasions.

Petro Atletico are also a force to reckon with in African Club Championships. They have appeared in the CAF Champions league 16 times since making their debut in 1983. Their best record in the Champions League was in 2001, when they reached the Semi Finals of the competition.

They have made 9 appearances in the CAF Confederations' Cup, but has never won the trophy nor reached the Semi Finals of the competition.

However, Petro Atletico won the 1997 CAF Cup title after defeating Etoile Sportive Du Sahel 2-1 on aggregate over two legs.

After drawing a bye in the 2014 Caf Confederations' Cup preliminary round,Petro Atletico will be looking to make a good impression against the Mysterious club.
