Player ratings: Ghana 1-0 Congo

Allsports  rates the Black Stars of Ghana players on show after their 1-0 win over DR Cong http://allsports.com.gh/2014/01/26/live-ghana-v-dr-congo-chan-2014-quarter-final/ o  in their quarter-final match at the CHAN tournament in South Africa.

Stephen Adams 7/10: Another clean sheet for Adams, as his confidence grows.    Made a good series of saves that preserved the Stars' lead, and continues to improve on his aerial ability.

Abeiku Ainooson 5/10:   Allowed Congo's wingers all the time in the world to do damage down the flanks, and struggled to provide any sort of support to Mpong down the right wing. Improved upon his first half performance in the second half.

Nuru Sulley 7/10:  A much improved display from Sulley, as he formed a strong partnership at the back with Adusei. Was cool, calm and collected as he won most of the aerial balls and 50/50 challenges  he went in for.

Kwabena Adusei 8/10:  Ghana's top performers on the day. Adusei was a rock at the back, as he cleared ball after ball . Almost gave Ghana the lead with a  powerful shot in the first half.  He eventually added to his goal tally with a well taken penalty, just like he did against Ethiopia.

Joshua Tijani 3/10: Was caught unawares time and time again, as the Congolese made the most of his defensive frailties down the left side of defense. Did nothing to help his partner down the left wing.

Jordan Opoku 5/10: Had his hands full with the Conglese midfield as he wasn't given the opportunity to impose himself on the game. He failed to create any chances for the men upfront, but was able to win his team a penalty.

Michael Akuffo  4/10: Was largely a passenger in midfield, as he failed to take control of it. Alongside his Kotoko teammate, he failed to keep the Congo midfield at bay, as he was continuously overrun.

Richard Mpong 2/10:  It's amazing how he starts every game at this tournament. Like previous games, he failed to do anything worthy of note, and offered absolutely no support whatsoever for the strikers. Rightly taken off for Abraham Attobrah early in the second half.

Theophilus Annorbaah 4/10: The scorer of Ghana's first goal of the tournament  tried to make things happen whenever he had possession of the ball, but failed to make any positive impact. He made a bursting run into the box in first half that almost resulted in a goal.

Yahaya Mohammed 6/10:  Was lively all game and proved a good target man as he invited the likes of Annorbaah and Bancey into the game. His first touch gave him away on more than one occasion and should have sealed the game in the second half after finding himself one-on-one with the Congolese goalie.

Seidu Bancey  5/10:  Had to feed off scraps for major parts of the first half. Could have done with some extra support form the wingers and midfielders. Was well marshalled by opposing defenders, but improved in the second half.

Substitutes
Abraham Attobrah 6/10: Attobrah was his usual bubbly self as he looked to take on opponents at every given opportunity. Added a new dimension to Ghana's play as he relieved Yahaya of some pressure. Disappeared as the game entered its late stages.

Alfred Nelson 6/10:  An able-bodied replacement for Adusei, he was.  Went about his defensive duties without much fuss, and provided some good clearances.

Owusu Jackson N/A: Wasn't on the pitch long enough to make an impact
