Kpando Sports Stadium To Be Upgraded

The Minister for Youth and Sports, Hon. Elvis Afriyie Ankrah paid a two day working visit to the Volta Region to inspect, meet, interact and visit the land owners of the propose site for the Regional multipurpose Stadium in Ho. Among his schedule, the minister paid a courtesy call on the traditional chiefs and people of the Gbi state in view of assuring them of governments' commitment in elevating the current stature of the Kpando stadium.

The minister in his speech reechoed the promise made by the president of the nation in providing a befitting sports complex in the region.”I will like to inform the house that after the inspection, the next visit perhaps I may not be part of it but it will be the technical people who will come and do an assessment and that will give you the assurance that indeed work will go on. The government is committed and we all committed”.

The Paramount Chief of Akpini Traditional Area, Torgbui Dagadu VIII, thanked the minister for showing confirms at the state of the Kpando sports stadium and reminded him of the 21 acres of land acquired by previous government which was neglected over the years resulting in encroachment by private developers.

He further pledge his allegiance in helping the government raise Kpando stadium to a respectable stadium as the stadia serves as the home of Kpando Heart of Lions a premier league outfit. The Minister was escorted by the Acting Director National Sports Authority Alice Atipoe, Deputy Volta Regional Minister Hon. Francis Ganyaglo as well as Kofi Abdala, Director Volta Regional Sports Authority.
