Moses Parker's Medeama SC made amends for their President's Cup and Premier League loss when they stunned Kumasi Asante Kotoko 1-0 in their MTN FA Cup final at the Accra Stadium yesterday.

By the win, the Tarkwa-based side crushed Kotoko's dream of making it a double for the season and it was the Porcupine Warriors' second final defeat after the resuscitation of the FA Cup competition, having lost to Nania FC by the same margin two years ago.

The win also handed Medeama the ticket to make their continental debut in next year's CAF Confederation Cup competition.

They went past clubs like Wa All Stars, Berekum Chelsea, Heart of Lions at the quarter final stage, defeating them 2-0 and went on to subdue Accra Hearts of  2-1 in their semi final clash at the Baba Yara Stadium.

In yesterday's match, unmarked Theophilus Anoba connected home Augustine Sefa's perfect cross to beat goalkeeper Soulama Abdulai in the later stages of the first half.

Kotoko pressed on incessantly to cancel the lead after the break but failed in their many attempts. Ransford Osei, Joseph Ochaya and Michael Helegbe came close earlier in the game but failed to hit their targets.

Medeama coach, Augustine Adotey, in a post-match interview revealed, 'I warned coach Didi ahead of the game to forget about this trophy.

'We had many scoring chances, we couldn't convert them. They had a few and converted one, I congratulate them,' Didi Dramani said after the game.

Besides taking home the trophy, they received GH¢30,000 in prize money as well as a mouthwatering GH¢50,000 from MTN for their continental campaign.

And like Medeama, Kotoko also received GH¢30,000 as prize money.
