Judgment Debt Commission Resumes Sitting Today

Justice of the Court of Appeal, Yaw Appau

The Judgment Debt Commission will resume public sittings for 2013 on Monday, January 14th.

The Sole Commissioner,Justice Yaw Apau, appointed by President John Dramani Mahama, is to lead investigations into all inordinate payment made from the national purse since 1992.

Already, representatives from the Lands Commission, Attorney General's Department, and Finance Ministry among others have appeared before the commission.

The Commission is expected to within the year call other organizations and individuals to appear before it as it performs its mandate.

In an interview with Citi News PRO for the Commission, George William Dove indicated that the first few days of sitting will see those ministries and organizations that have already appeared return to clarify some issues with more documentary evidence.

“Some people were here earlier and the information they gave was not enough so they promised to bring more information and that is what we are waiting for.”

“Since it is a court, those who came earlier had to come back again if they had not submitted adequate information,” he added.
