Satellites off to Cape Town - For eight-nation tourney
Black Ghana’s under-20 team, Black Satellites, yesterday left Accra for South Africa to participate in an eight-nation international friendly tournament.
Head coach Orlando Wellington selected a 21-man squad entirely composed up of home-based players with five players from the second tier league.
Inter Allies duo of Daniel Amartey and Bernard Arthur, Daniel Sowatey of Accra Great Olympics, Unity FC's Emmanuel Obour and Bernard Arthur of Gomoa Fetteh Feyenoord make up the selected players from the Division One League.
The Satellites will be based in Cape Town and have been drawn in Group A against Argentina, Nigeria and hosts South Africa for the May 25 to June 3 competition.
South American giants Brazil will play Cameroun, Kenya and Japan in Group B.
Ghana open their campaign on May 25 against their traditional rivals Nigeria at the Athlone Stadium.
Te Satellites will later play South Africa at the Cape Town Stadium on May 27 before playing Argentina two days later.
The top two teams in each group will advance to the semi-finals, with the final taking place on June 3.
