Chelsea Targets Toure

Emmanuel Kyeremeh

FROM ALL indications, Kumasi Asante Kotoko have to be more persuasive if they intend extending the stay of their Ivorian import, Ahmed Toure, in the coming season.

DAILY GUIDE SPORTS has learnt that the striker tops the shopping list of players penciled down by Berekum Chelsea for the Glo Premier League campaign next season.

Sources at the Berekum-based club have hinted the paper that Chelsea officials were bent on poaching Ahmed Toure to their club at any cost so they were prepared to break their bank to land him.

DAILY GUIDE SPORTS gathered that talks between Toure and Chelsea are currently ongoing behind the scenes but so far no deal has been reached between the two parties.

Berekum Chelsea believe that Toure, who is very potent upfront, could restore bite in their attacking machinery, especially as they intend reclaiming their league crown from Kotoko next season.

The former Ghana champions have therefore decided to officially write to Kotoko, immediately the league comes to an end, for the release of the Ivorian international.

Ahmed Toure has been warming the bench of Kotoko at the latter stages of the league and he cannot wait to join a club where he can be guaranteed a first team place.

But whether Toure will leave league champions Asante Kotoko, who will be representing Ghana in the Africa Champions League next season, is the biggest question.
