Fetteh Ghana at prestigious U19 tournament in The Netherlands

Fetteh Ghana (also known as Feyenoord Academy Ghana) is one of six participants at the third edition of the Copa del Agatha, a yearly organised U19 tournament in the southeast of The Netherlands. The junior side of Fetteh Ghana is the only African team to make the trip to compete at an international football tournament in The Netherlands in 2011. In the town of Cuyk-Sint Agatha, Fetteh Ghana will meet the Dutch sides Feyenoord Rotterdam and VVV-Venlo, Shakthar Donetsk from Ukraine, Valenciennes (France) as well as AIK Stockholm from Sweden.

“We are very proud to have Fetteh Ghana at our tournament”, says team coordinator Martijn Schwillens of the Copa del Agatha. “A number of other football tournaments in Holland, which were held in May and June, were also hoping to host an African team, but due to red tape they failed to let these teams compete at their tournaments. Furthermore, African football has been on the up for the last two decades and especially Ghana is a well-known football nation in Europe after reaching the final eight in last year's World Cup as well as winning the Under 20 World Cup in 2009. Therefore, we rate Fetteh Ghana to reach the final at the Copa del Agatha.”

Besides competing at the Copa del Agatha, Fetteh Ghana will also participate at this weekend's Eurofoot Tournament in the Belgian town Oostduinkerke. In Belgium they will also play a friendly match against KV Mechelen, whom with Fetteh Ghana are closely working together. The Copa del Agatha is being held on Saturday 13th and Sunday 14th August 2011. Location is the VCA sports fields in Cuyk-Sint Agatha (close to cities of Nijmegen and Eindhoven, as well as the German Ruhrgebied).
