We've Our Fate In Our Own Hands - Coach Kuuku Dadzie
Ghana's Black Princesses coach, James Kuuku Dadzie says their fate in the ongoing Under-20 Women’s World Cup is in their own hands and that they are going to make the most of the opportunity in their make-or-break final Group D match against Switzerland today in Bielefeld.
“We find ourselves in tight corner but we are determined to survive so we will do all within our means to achieve that aim,” Coach Dadzie said ahead of the game.
Today, they do not just need a win to survive a group that has only South Korea already through to the next stage, but have to score as many as six goals to go through in a group that has defending champions, USA also fighting for survival.
The Americans will have to go past the South Koreans or at least earn a draw to be able to advance to the next stage.
And both Coach Dadzie and his girls are relishing that challenge — an arduous but not an impossible task. While Florence Dadson is yet to score in the tournament, Elizabeth Cudjoe has already struck twice in the tournament so far and remains hopeful that they will have a goal harvest against the Swiss who are without a goal or a point to their names in this tournament.
Not many would have had it right, that South Korea would amass more points than the title holders at this point. However, thanks to their quick passing football and spectacular attacking displays, the east Asians are still unbeaten at Germany 2010, while the reigning champions are playing catch-up with four points from their opening two games.
One of the most intriguing battles out on the pitch will be between the top strikers Ji So-Yun and Sydney Leroux, who have five and four goals respectively after two games. And their influence in this final group battle could make all the difference.
