Amoah: 'We can excel without Appiah & Muntari'

Ghana striker Mathew Amoah believes the Black Stars will excel at next month's Africa Cup of Nations without influential midfield duo Stephen Appiah and Sulley Muntari.

The two players were excluded from next month's tournament in Angola after coach Milovan Rajevac revealed his squad.

Appiah was left out due to a calf injury while Muntari was axed because of his poor disciplinary record.

Despite the absence of the duo, the Holland-based goal poacher claims their replacements will fill the vacuum and live up to expectation.

"I don't really think their absence will be a problem at all. We have good players who can play and I think they can do the job well," Amoah told Joy FM.

"I spoke to Stephen Appiah and I know he's injured but I haven't spoken to Sulley Muntari yet. It's the coach who takes the decisions."

Amoah was joint topscorer for Ghana in 2010 joint Nations Cup/World Cup qualifers.

Ghana will play in Group B at the African Cup of Nations where they will face Ivory Coast, Togo and Burkina Faso.
