Pimpong wants Black Stars return
Denmark-based striker Razak Pimpong has stepped up his fight to gatecrash Ghana's squad to the 2010 Africa Cup of Nations.
The 26-year-old, who plays for Viborg, has played for his country in all the major competitions across the globe including the World Cup.
But Africa's flagship tournament remains the only major tournament he has not played in for his country.
With the tournament in Angola just three months away, Pimpong is hoping his form in Denmark could help him join Milovan Rajevac's squad.
"I have not been in the Black Stars for some time now and I main concentration is to get back into the team," Pimpong told Ghanasoccernet.
"I have been in action for my country in many tournaments from the U17 level to the World Cup in Germany in 2006.
"The African Cup of Nations is the only tournament I have not played and that is the point I want to use to return to the Black Stars.
“I have been working so hard towards it and I hope will be given the chance to show what I can do for my country.”
Pimpong played for Ghana at the World Cup in Germany and he was instrumental in the Black Stars win over USA that took the country to the second round of the tournament three years ago.
He has not been in action for his country since February 2007 but he is confident his performances can help him to make a comeback.
"As the national team has changed coaches over the past few years, I have not recieved a call up but I am keen to return to the fold," he said.
"I have excelled in many matches for my club in the league and I want to use my performance on the club scene to help my country."
"Coach Milovan Rajevac has gone to may countries to see some players. I hope he will come here to see my matches too.
"I know Denmark is not the favourite destination but we are playing world class football here too."
Pimpong has been named man-of-match in seven games in Denmark so far this season.
