Zamalek demands $2m from Agogo
Manuel Junior Agogo Black Stars striker Manuel Junior Agogo is under fire from his employers Zamalek, as the Egyptian giants are demanding $2 million from him.
A source close to Agogo says the former Nottingham Forest striker will have to cough up the said amount from the $3 million they gave him as signing fee, for abrogating his contract.
According to the source, Zamalek are demanding the amount as part of a three-year deal signed last year with regard to which Agogo completed less than a year of the contract.
Agogo abrogated his three-year contract last month with Zamalek and reported the Egyptian club to FIFA for breach of contract, insisting he had not been paid for over five months.
He also cited unfair treatment meted to him by Zamalek officials.
He thus reported the case to FIFA in a letter saying there had been several breaches of his contract and efforts to get the Egyptian FA to resolve the issue had fallen on deaf ears.
The Ghana Football Association was said to have also intervened but all failed to yield any dividend. He said his lawyers had written to Zamalek abrogating the contract.
Agogo left the Cairo giants after enduring a frustrating nine-month spell with the club's new management. He signed a three-year contract from English first division side Nottingham Forest under the leadership of Abbas Mamdouh in July last year but fell out with the new board after the former club president was ousted.
