Adotey To Dehtrone Aikins

KICKBOXING CHALLENGER, Joseph Adotey Mingle alias “Lion” from the Power Zoom Club has indicated his resolve to dethrone the Defending Champion, Isaac Aikins of the Jhana Boxing Club in a one-day kickboxing competition.

DAILY GUIDE SPORTS has gathered that the five-man kickboxing championship which is being organized by the Jhana Kickboxing Gym in collaboration with the Ghana National Kickboxing Association and a consulting firm from Japan, IBS, will be held at the Prisons Canteen on Sunday November 30, 2008.

Speaking to DAILY GUIDE SPORTS on Wednesday in Accra, Adotey Mingle said he started the kung-fu art in1985 but it wasn't until three years ago that he took the sport seriously, consequently winning a trophy in a four-man tournament in August this year.

The tournament was held in Cairo among three countries, namely Togo, Egypt and Sudan.

“I train really hard these days at the Black Panther Club where the Kotey brothers are training. You might have heard that in my last fight I defeated my opponent by 3-0 in Cairo to lift the trophy at stake,” he said.

He noted that looking at the nature of opposition, it would be easy for him to become a champion come Sunday, because he has an edge over his opponent.

Contestants in the 70 kg category from the Power Zone include Seth Akpodjah (68kg), Joseph Adotey Mingle (70kg) and Stevano Tuepke (70kg)  and they are to face members of the Jhana Gym comprising Isaac Aikins (68kg), Boye Issah (65kg) and Reginald Dodoo (67kg). By Pierre Toto
