Black Princesses are still owed qualifying bonuses dating back to 2016 - Didi Dramani

Former Black Princesses coach Didi Dramani says members of Ghana’s women’s Under-20 national team are still owed four qualifying bonuses, nearly a decade after their campaign for the 2016 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup.

Dramani, who led the team to the tournament in Papua New Guinea, claims the players have received only one of the four winning bonuses due to them for the qualifying campaign.

Speaking on Asempa FM, the former Hearts of Oak coach revealed that some of the affected players continue to contact him in the hope that he can help secure the outstanding payments.

“As I speak with you now, since 2016 when I sent the Black Princesses to the World Cup, they have only paid one of four qualifying winning bonuses,” he said.

“I still receive their calls about their unpaid bonuses because they feel that I should be someone who can push for it.”

Dramani questioned why the players had been left waiting for their money for so long, arguing that the relevant authorities should at least communicate with them about the situation.

“Why is it like that? Because it is not supposed to be so. They could have at least had time to speak with them and let them know they are aware of the situation,” he added.

His comments have renewed concerns about the payment of outstanding bonuses to Ghanaian players who represent the country in international competitions.

The claims also raise questions about the treatment of former national team players and the responsibility of football authorities to ensure that financial commitments made to players are honoured.
