Freezy Macbones presents WBO Africa title to Bawumia on 63rd birthday

Ghanaian boxer Seth Gyimah, popularly known as Freezy Macbones, has paid a special visit to former vice-president Dr Mahamudu Bawumia to present his World Boxing Organisation (WBO) Africa light-heavyweight title.

Macbones visited Bawumia on his 63rd birthday after winning the title in Nigeria with a majority-points decision victory over Godday Appa.

The boxer had earlier returned to his hometown in the Ashanti Region, where he celebrated his achievement with family and friends.

The title victory marks another milestone in the career of the Europe-based fighter, who has overcome several challenges to establish himself in professional boxing.

Macbones began his boxing career at 27 after working in various occupations, including masonry and catering, as he sought a better future for himself.

His journey later took him into Ghana's national boxing setup, where he was invited to join the Black Bombers as they prepared for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.

However, he failed to qualify for the Olympics and subsequently turned professional, continuing his pursuit of success in the sport.

Now aged 37, Macbones has established himself as a continental champion and is setting his sights on winning a world title.

The boxer, based in Europe and married to a French woman with whom he has two children, hopes his WBO Africa triumph provides a platform for further success on the international stage.

His journey from working in different occupations to becoming a professional boxing champion is a testament to his perseverance and determination to reach the top.
