2026/27 MTN FA Cup final to be played over two legs
The 2026/27 MTN FA Cup final will be played over two legs for the first time in the history of Ghanaian domestic football, the Ghana Football Association (GFA) has announced.
The first leg of the historic final will take place between 5 and 7 June 2027, with the return leg scheduled for 12 and 13 June.
The GFA says the decision is aimed at giving the competition greater exposure while allowing both finalists to stage a showpiece match in front of their home supporters.
The move marks a significant departure from the traditional one-off final and is expected to add further excitement to Ghana's premier knockout competition.
The journey towards the historic final will begin with the preliminary round, which is scheduled for 23-26 October 2026.
The Round of 64 will follow from 27-30 November, while the Round of 32 will be played between 12 and 15 February 2027.
The quarter-finals are scheduled for 19-22 March, with the semi-finals set to take place from 23-26 April.
The two-legged final will bring the competition to a climax in June, with the two finalists battling across two matches for the MTN FA Cup trophy.
