Ampem Darkoa lose on penalties as Edo Queens seal WAFU B Champions League place
Ghana Women's Premier League champions Ampem Darkoa Ladies missed out on a place in the CAF Women's Champions League after losing 4-1 on penalties to Nigeria's Edo Queens following a dramatic 2-2 draw.
The Ghanaian side made the perfect start when Beline scored inside the opening minute to hand Ampem Darkoa an early lead.
Edo Queens responded after the break to level the contest, but Beline restored Ampem Darkoa's advantage from the penalty spot in the 73rd minute.
The Nigerian champions refused to give in and found a second equaliser to force the match into a penalty shootout after the sides finished level at 2-2 in regulation time.
From the spot, Edo Queens kept their composure, converting four penalties while Ampem Darkoa managed just one.
The victory secured the WAFU B title for Edo Queens and booked their place in the CAF Women's Champions League.
