CAF Champions League prelims: Medeama ready for TP Mazembe test, says Ibrahim Tanko

Medeama SC head coach Ibrahim Tanko says his side is fully prepared for their crucial CAF Champions League preliminary-round clash against TP Mazembe, as the Ghanaian champions seek another memorable continental run.

The Yellow and Mauve will host the Congolese giants at TNA Park on Sunday, 6 September, in the first leg before travelling to Lubumbashi for the return fixture on Saturday, 12 September.

Tanko's confidence comes after Medeama lifted the 2026 Champion of Champions trophy, giving the club further momentum ahead of one of their biggest matches of the season.

Speaking after the victory, the former Ghana international said the technical team would analyse the performance to fine-tune the squad before facing the five-time African champions.

"This is the last game before that game. So definitely, we are going to review the game today and see where we have to be better to make the game next week easier for us," he told 3Sports.

Despite identifying areas for improvement, Tanko insisted his players are ready for the challenge.

"We are 100% ready for TP Mazembe."
Medeama will hope to build on their early-season silverware as they aim to surpass their previous best CAF Champions League campaign, when they reached the group stage in their maiden appearance in the competition.
