Consider Laryea Kingston for Black Stars coaching job - Former Hearts of Oak CEO Harry Zakour tells GFA
Former Hearts of Oak Chief Executive Officer Harry Zakour believes Laryea Kingston should be considered for the Black Stars coaching job.
The Ghana Football Association (GFA) is searching for a new head coach following the reported departure of Carlos Queiroz, whose short-term contract expired after the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Queiroz, who replaced Otto Addo before the tournament, guided Ghana to the knockout stage of the World Cup for the first time since 2010.
With assistant coach Desmond Ofei reportedly in line to take temporary charge of the team ahead of the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, Zakour believes the GFA should move on from Queiroz and explore younger coaching options.
The former Hearts of Oak executive has specifically backed ex-Ghana international Laryea Kingston, who currently serves as head coach of Uganda's men's national teams.
"I don't believe Carlos Queiroz must continue as Black Stars. He is old for this job," he told Sporty FM.
"We have good coaches around like Laryea Kingston, but tge problem is that he will be hired, and they will not pay him.
"We have all seen what he is doing in Uganda, and I think for me, we must give him a look," he added.
Kingston has gained coaching experience in Ghana and Uganda since ending his playing career and is now being touted by Zakour as a potential candidate to lead the senior national team.
The Black Stars are expected to regroup in September as they begin preparations for the 2027 AFCON qualifiers.
