We will make the best decision for Ibrahim Osman - Brighton boss Fabian Hurzeler

Brighton and Hove Albion head coach Fabian Hurzeler says the club will make the best decision for Ghana international Ibrahim Osman as the winger continues to fight for a place in the first team.

Osman joined Brighton from Danish club FC Nordsjaelland last season but has found it difficult to establish himself as a regular member of the Seagulls’ senior squad.

The 21-year-old spent the previous campaign on loan at three different clubs, gaining valuable experience in France, the Netherlands and England.

He began the season with French side AJ Auxerre before moving to Dutch club Feyenoord, with both loan spells providing him with opportunities to develop at senior level.

Osman then spent the second half of the campaign in the English Championship with Birmingham City, where he made 18 appearances in all competitions, scoring two goals and providing two assists.

His performances at Birmingham gave him further exposure to the demands of English football as he continued his development.

The Ghanaian returned to Brighton for pre-season ahead of the 2026/27 campaign and has already caught the attention of Hurzeler.

Osman featured in Brighton’s impressive 3-0 victory over Italian giants AS Roma during pre-season, giving him another opportunity to stake his claim for a place in the squad.

Hurzeler revealed that he has been impressed by the youngster’s progress but stressed that Brighton will take their time before deciding what is best for both the player and the club.

“I’m also impressed by him (Osman) so far, so let’s wait how this continues, and then we make the best decision for him and for the club,” Hurzeler told The Argus.

Osman is expected to feature in Brighton’s pre-season game against Italian Serie A side Bologna on Saturday, scheduled 14:00 GMT.
