Medeama is aiming to win CAF Champions League title, says Board Chairman Dr Toni Aubynn
Medeama SC are targeting nothing less than the CAF Champions League title in the 2026/27 season, according to Board Chairman Dr Toni Aubynn.
The Yellow and Mauve side will represent Ghana in Africa’s premier club competition after winning the 2025/26 Ghana Premier League.
Medeama face a daunting start to their continental campaign after being drawn against Congolese giants TP Mazembe in the preliminary round, with the two legs scheduled to be played later this month.
Despite the difficult draw, Dr Aubynn says Medeama are entering the competition with genuine ambitions of going all the way rather than simply participating.
“In the past, we wanted to progress to the money zone, but now our aim is to win the cup itself by making Ghana proud and the people of the Western Region proud. Our target is to go for the kill,” he told Graphic Sports.
The Medeama chairman acknowledged the quality and experience of TP Mazembe, describing the Congolese side as a formidable opponent.
However, he believes Medeama are well prepared for the challenge and capable of giving their more experienced opponents a strong contest.
While admitting that the Ghanaian champions could be regarded as underdogs, Dr Aubynn said the club would approach the tie with confidence, drawing on the experience gained from previous CAF Champions League campaigns.
Medeama are currently in Ivory Coast as they step up preparations for the new season and their return to Africa’s elite club competition.
