CAF confirms Egypt as host of Africa U-23 Cup of Nations
The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has confirmed a number of major decisions following its Executive Committee meeting, including the award of the 2027 Africa U-20 Cup of Nations hosting rights to Ghana.
Ghana will stage the continental youth championship in 2027, giving the country another opportunity to host a major CAF competition and showcase its football infrastructure.
The decision is also significant for Ghana's youth football development, with the tournament expected to provide a platform for some of Africa's most promising young players to compete at the highest level.
Meanwhile, Egypt has been selected to host the Africa U-23 Cup of Nations, a tournament that will double as the qualifying competition for the men's football tournament at the 2028 Olympic Games.
The U-23 AFCON will therefore carry added importance, with participating nations battling not only for continental honours but also for qualification to the Olympic football competition.
Morocco has also been awarded the hosting rights for the 2027 Africa U-17 Cup of Nations.
The North African country has established itself as a major host of CAF and FIFA competitions in recent years, and will now welcome the continent's leading U-17 teams for the 2027 tournament.

CAF has also approved the date for the 2026 CAF Super Cup, with the prestigious fixture scheduled to take place in Pretoria, South Africa, on November 8, 2026.
The match is set to kick off at 15:00 local time.
The Super Cup will bring together the winners of CAF's two premier club competitions — the CAF Champions League and CAF Confederation Cup — in a one-off clash for continental supremacy.
The decision gives the competing clubs a confirmed date to prepare for what is traditionally one of the most anticipated fixtures on the African football calendar.

CAF also provided an update on plans for an African Nations League, but said discussions surrounding the proposed competition are still ongoing.
The continental football body has yet to finalise the competition's format or determine the countries that would host the tournament.
CAF is expected to continue consultations before making a final decision on the structure, participating teams and hosting arrangements.
The latest decisions underline CAF's plans to expand and strengthen its competitions across different age categories while continuing to develop the calendar for African national and club football.
