Hearts of Oak withdraw from 2026 GHALCA Top-4 Tournament
Hearts of Oak have withdrawn from the 2026 Ghana League Clubs Association (GHALCA) Top-4 Tournament, citing scheduling clashes and concerns over their preparations for the new league season.
The club announced the decision in a statement dated August 11, 2026, explaining that the scheduled dates of the tournament conflict with other pre-arranged programmes.
Hearts of Oak also said the tournament's proximity to the start of the new league season influenced the decision, as participation could disrupt the club's preparations and other commitments.
According to the statement, the Phobians had earlier engaged GHALCA and requested a change in the tournament dates to enable them to participate. However, the club said those efforts did not result in any adjustment to the schedule.
"After careful consideration, the Club has therefore decided that withdrawing from the tournament is the most appropriate course of action at this time," Hearts of Oak said.
The club expressed appreciation to GHALCA for its efforts in organising the competition and wished the association and the participating clubs a successful tournament.
Hearts of Oak added that they remain committed to maintaining a cordial relationship and continued collaboration with GHALCA and the wider Ghanaian football community.
