Danlad Ibrahim returns to Asante Kotoko ahead of 2026/27 Ghana Premier League season
Former Asante Kotoko goalkeeper Danlad Ibrahim has returned to the club as the Porcupine Warriors continue preparations for the 2026/27 Ghana Premier League season.
The experienced shot-stopper has been training with Kotoko since the team resumed pre-season activities, with his performances convincing the club to consider bringing him back on a permanent basis.
Danlad, who is currently a free agent, was initially permitted to join the squad for training as both parties explored the possibility of a reunion. His impressive displays during the pre-season period have strengthened the chances of an agreement being reached.
The goalkeeper previously enjoyed a successful spell with Asante Kotoko after joining from King Faisal, quickly becoming one of the most highly rated goalkeepers in Ghanaian football.
He played a crucial role in Kotoko’s 2021/22 Ghana Premier League title-winning campaign, producing several key saves as the Porcupine Warriors secured the league trophy for the first time in eight years.
His consistent performances at club level also earned him recognition with the senior national team, the Black Stars. Danlad was part of Ghana’s squad for the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations and later featured during the 2023 AFCON tournament.
Before moving to Kotoko, Danlad began his professional career at King Faisal, where his impressive performances attracted national attention.
He also represented Ghana at youth level, winning the Golden Glove award at the 2017 FIFA U-17 World Cup after an outstanding campaign with the Black Starlets.
The goalkeeper’s return would add experience, competition and leadership to Kotoko’s goalkeeping department as the club prepares for the new season under head coach Eric Tinkler.
