Various Management Committees for national teams must be overhauled, says Sports Minister Kofi Adams
Sports and Recreation Minister Kofi Adams has criticised Ghana’s current system of assigning separate Management Committees to each national team, describing the arrangement as inefficient and a hindrance to the country’s football development.
For several years, Ghana’s national teams have operated with individual Management Committees responsible for handling administrative and operational duties.
However, Adams believes the model creates unnecessary pressure on government resources while presenting avoidable management challenges.
Speaking in an interview with Sporty FM, the Buem Member of Parliament argued that the existing structure is not the most effective approach to managing Ghana’s sporting affairs.
"Having separate Management Teams for the various national teams becomes a burden on us and creates so many challenges for us based on what I have seen and what I came to meet, and I believe that is not the best way to manage our sport," the Buem MP said.
The Minister explained that while individuals who contribute to the success of Ghana’s national teams can still be recognised and rewarded, there are more sustainable approaches to supporting the development of the country’s sports sector.
"There are many other ways of rewarding people, and there are many ways of helping to develop our sports, especially the national teams that this system has operated over the period,' Adams added.
Adams disclosed that he plans to champion a major restructuring of the current arrangement, with the aim of establishing a single Management Committee responsible for overseeing all of Ghana’s national teams.
According to the Minister, such a move would help streamline operations, reduce administrative burdens, and create a more coordinated approach towards the development of Ghanaian football.
