2026/27 GPL: Let's rally behind Eric Tinkler - Chairman K5 urges Asante Kotoko fans

Former Asante Kotoko National Circles Council (NCC) chairman, Kweku Amponsah, popularly known as Chairman K5, has called on supporters of the club to throw their full backing behind newly appointed head coach Eric Tinkler ahead of the 2026/27 Ghana Premier League season.

The South African tactician was recently appointed as the new head coach of the Porcupine Warriors and has already begun preparations with the team as they intensify their pre-season activities ahead of the new campaign.

Chairman K5 believes Tinkler’s experience and understanding of African football make him a suitable choice to lead the Kumasi-based giants, but stressed that the coach will need the patience and support of the club’s passionate supporters to succeed.

Speaking in an interview with FOX FM, he urged fans to avoid placing unnecessary pressure on the coach and instead unite behind him as he begins his work at the club.

"Eric Tinkler is a black coach who knows the dynamics of African football, so let’s support him, because if he fails, we the supporters are to be blamed," Chairman K5 said.

Tinkler arrives at Asante Kotoko with the task of restoring the club’s competitiveness after a challenging period, with expectations high among the club’s supporters for a strong showing in the upcoming Ghana Premier League season.

The Porcupine Warriors will open their 2026/27 league campaign with an away fixture against newly promoted Debibi United as they begin their quest for domestic success.
