Maxwell Konadu names Ghana squad for 2026 WAFU B U-20 Championship campaign

Black Satellites head coach Maxwell Konadu has unveiled Ghana’s squad for the 2026 WAFU B U-20 Championship, as the national U-20 team prepares to battle for regional supremacy in Yamoussoukro, Côte d’Ivoire.

The Ghanaian contingent arrived in the Ivorian capital on Friday. It immediately shifted focus to preparations, holding their first training session on Saturday ahead of their opening Group B fixture against Nigeria.

The Black Satellites will face the Flying Eagles of Nigeria on Monday, July 27, in what promises to be a highly anticipated West African youth football showdown.

After their opening encounter, Konadu’s charges will continue their group stage campaign against Burkina Faso before concluding their preliminary round matches against Togo.

Ghana will be aiming to make a strong impression at the tournament and secure a place in the knockout stage as they chase another WAFU B U-20 Championship title.

The competition carries added significance as it serves as the qualifying pathway for the 2027 TotalEnergies CAF U-20 Africa Cup of Nations, which Ghana will host.

The tournament will provide the Black Satellites with a valuable platform to develop team chemistry, assess their progress, and compete against some of the best emerging talents across the West African region ahead of the continental competition.

Coach Konadu’s squad features a blend of promising young talents who will carry Ghana’s hopes of regional success when the championship gets underway.
