Ipswich Town close in on £20m deal for Ghana star Abdul Fatawu Issahaku from Leicester City
Premier League newcomers Ipswich Town are nearing an agreement with Leicester City for the signing of Ghana international winger Abdul Fatawu ahead of the 2026/27 season.
According to Sky Sports, the transfer fee is expected to be in the region of £20 million, with Ipswich keen to finalise the deal in time for the 22-year-old to join their pre-season preparations in La Manga, Spain.
The newly promoted side are scheduled to depart for their training camp later today as they continue preparations for their return to the Premier League.
Fatawu had attracted interest from several top-flight clubs, including Everton, who were reportedly in talks with the player over personal terms. West Ham United and other clubs were also said to be monitoring his situation.
The Ghanaian winger joined Leicester City from Portuguese giants Sporting CP on an initial loan deal in 2023 before the move was made permanent after the Foxes secured promotion to the Premier League.
Since arriving in England, Fatawu has developed into one of Ghana’s most exciting attacking talents, combining pace, creativity and direct running from the flanks.
A move to Portman Road would represent another major step in his career as he looks to make an immediate impact with Ipswich in their first season back in the Premier League.
