2026 World Cup: We are ready and prepared for Colombia challenge - Jordan Ayew
Ghana captain Jordan Ayew has expressed confidence in the Black Stars' readiness ahead of their FIFA World Cup Round of 32 showdown against Colombia.
The four-time African champions will face the South Americans on Saturday, July 4, at Kansas City Stadium after advancing from Group L in third place.
Colombia, meanwhile, progressed as Group K winners after completing the group stage unbeaten.
Addressing the media before the knockout encounter, Ayew acknowledged the magnitude of the challenge but insisted Ghana have improved with every game and are determined to secure a place in the next round.
"It'll be a big game, and we're ready. We've been growing in the tournament," Ayew said, "and we want to put on a show, make sure we win. That's the most important thing for us."
The 34-year-old also stressed the importance of maintaining the team's positive momentum as they continue their World Cup campaign.
"It's a World Cup, and you always want to win and keep the winning streak and the positivity going. We're giving it our best shot, and learning from our mistakes and experience," the former Leicester City forward added.
Ghana have reached the World Cup knockout stage for the first time since their memorable run at the 2010 tournament in South Africa, where they came agonisingly close to becoming the first African nation to reach the semi-finals.
The Black Stars will be hoping to write another chapter in their World Cup history when they take on Colombia, with kick-off scheduled for 01:30 GMT.
