ICEDEG Africa Hails Historic Nine‑Nation African Qualification to World Cup Knockout Stage

The Iustum Center for Democracy and Governance (ICEDEG Africa LBG) has congratulated nine African countries for securing qualification to the Round of 32 at the ongoing FIFA World Cup, describing the achievement as a defining moment for African football and a powerful demonstration of the continent’s rising competitiveness on the global stage.

The qualified nations—Morocco, Ghana, Senegal, Côte d'Ivoire, Egypt, Algeria, DR Congo, Cape Verde and South Africa—have delivered one of Africa’s strongest collective performances in World Cup history, progressing beyond the group stage with resilience and tactical discipline.

A Landmark Achievement for African Football

In a statement, ICEDEG Africa applauded the teams for inspiring millions across the continent, noting that their success reflects years of investment, improved coaching, and growing confidence among African sides.

The organisation said the performance of the nine nations shows that African football has “evolved significantly” and is now capable of competing consistently with the world’s traditional football giants.

Special Praise for Ghana

ICEDEG Africa reserved special commendation for Ghana’s Black Stars, who sealed qualification to the knockout stage before playing their final group match. The organisation described the feat as a mark of the team’s consistency, tactical discipline and renewed sense of purpose.

It added that the Black Stars have once again united Ghanaians behind a common cause, rekindling national pride through their impressive showing on football’s biggest stage.

Eyes on the Knockout Phase

With the tournament entering its decisive phase, ICEDEG Africa urged all nine African representatives to remain focused, expressing optimism that this World Cup presents a genuine opportunity for an African team to reach unprecedented heights.

“The entire continent stands proudly behind our teams. Africa has shown that it did not come to this World Cup merely to participate, but to compete, inspire, and make history,” the statement said.
