2026 World Cup: We want to finish as Group L winners – Ghana midfielder Kwasi Sibo
Black Stars midfielder Kwasi Sibo says Ghana are determined to finish top of Group L at the ongoing 2026 FIFA World Cup as they prepare for a decisive clash against Croatia.
The Black Stars boosted their qualification hopes after holding England to a goalless draw in their second group game at Boston Stadium on Tuesday.
The result left both Ghana and England level on four points after two matches, setting up a tense final round of fixtures in the group.
Sibo, who earned plaudits for his disciplined display in midfield against the Three Lions, revealed that the team executed head coach Carlos Queiroz's tactical plan to perfection.
"He told us to be compact. He told us to fight for each other. And he told us that, at this moment, he knows that we will suffer because we are playing against a great team. But still, we should keep our mentality tough, fight from the first minute to 90 minutes," Sibo said.
"I think we listened to him and we followed his instructions and we did the job for him."
With Ghana now on the verge of securing qualification to the Round of 32, the 26-year-old is confident the team can overcome Croatia in Saturday's crucial encounter.
"Now, the game against Croatia — I don't think, I just believe that we're going to take all three points," he said.
"We want to be leaders in the group, and we are not looking back."
Sibo admitted Ghana adopted a defensive approach against England but insisted the Black Stars would show greater attacking intent against Croatia as they chase all three points.
"Against England, we defended a lot. We had one chance that could have given us three points. So, going against Croatia, it's all in all, for the nation," Sibo said.
The Black Stars will take on Croatia at Lincoln Financial Field on Saturday, knowing that victory would not only secure their place in the Round of 32 but could also see them finish as Group L winners.
