2026 World Cup: Croatia might find solution to our low block if tactics is not tweaked - Laryea Kingston
Former Ghana international Laryea Kingston has called for slight tactical adjustments from the Black Stars as they prepare for their decisive FIFA World Cup group-stage clash against Croatia.
Kingston's comments come in the wake of Ghana's disciplined defensive performance in a goalless draw against England, a result that has left the Black Stars in a strong position to advance to the knockout stages.
Ghana have collected four points from their opening two matches, having beaten Panama before holding England to a stalemate.
The four-time African champions are currently second in Group L, level on points with England but separated by goal difference.
Speaking to Joy Sports, the former Black Stars winger, who is currently in charge of Uganda's Under-17 national team, said Ghana possess enough quality and attacking talent to trouble any side at the tournament.
“We have all the weapons to hurt any opponent,” Kingston said.
Despite praising the team's performances so far, Kingston believes Ghana must evolve tactically as the tournament progresses.
He warned that Croatia would have studied Ghana's previous matches and could be better prepared to deal with the defensive approach that has brought success so far.
“I believe it has worked for us, but against Croatia, I know they have seen our games and will definitely find solutions to our low block,” he added.
Kingston's remarks underline the importance of adaptability as the Black Stars seek to secure a place in the Round of 32.
A positive result against Croatia would guarantee Ghana's progression to the knockout stage for the first time since their memorable run to the quarter-finals at the 2010 FIFA World Cup.
