England have all the pressure, says Ghana boss Queiroz ahead of World Cup clash
Both teams go into the game in Foxborough knowing that victory will take them into the last 32 knockout stagesat the 2026 World Cup in the United States, Mexico and Canada.
"One of the teams on the pitch is probably in the list of candidates to win the World Cup," said Queiroz of an England squad featuring the Bayern Munich striker Harry Kane and Real Madrid's Jude Bellingham and Arsenal's Bukayo Saka.
"So the full responsibilities of the game is on our opponent," he added.
But Queiroz conceded that after winning their opening game against Panama, Ghana were also under pressure to get a result and advance to the knockout stages.
Queiroz relishes England 'challenge'
"This isn't the part of the competition where it's 'all or nothing' for the winner," said Queroz who took over as Ghana coach in April following the departure of Otto Addo.
"We've got the points that put us in a position to qualify the team for the second round of the competition.
"We have a great challenge and we know it is an important game for both teams."
In England's Group L opener against Croatia on 17 June, Kane scored twice in the 4-2 win in Dallas.
Ghana left it late to see off Panama. Caleb Yirenkyi scored in second half stoppage time at the Toronto Stadium to give the Black Stars - as Ghana are nicknamed - a flying start to the tournament.
Partey available to play following ban from Canda
And Queiroz vowed his players would display the same fighting spirit that enabled them to prevail at the death against Panama.
"If England come left, we stop them left and we go right. If they go in there, we go," said Queiroz.
"We'll stop them in the air and if they go down, we use the submarines! We have to fight for 90 minutes."
Veteran midfielder Thomas Partey will be available for Ghana after missing the opening game after he was refused entry into Canada.
The 33-year-old faces several charges of rape and sexual assault in a British court.
Partey, who played for Arsenal between 2020 and 2025 before moving to Villareal in Spain, denies all the charges.
'Ghana pose different problem to Croatia'
Tuchel, who has coached clubs in Germany, France and England, said Ghana's ability to soak up pressure and counterattack at speed posed a different problem to Croatia.
"But that's the beauty of it," added the 52-year-old German.
Players to watch: Ghana's Antoine Semenyo
"We are playing in the World Cup. We play different cultures, different national teams and different approaches to the match.
"It's on us to adapt and to bring our strength and be respectful enough to adapt to the strengths of our opponent."
Ghana finish the pool stages with a game against Croatia in Philadelphia on 27 June. England conclude their campaign against Panama on the same day.
