2026 World Cup: Daniel-Kofi Kyereh rallies Black Stars with emotional message ahead of Panama clash
Ghana forward Daniel Kofi Kyereh has sent an inspiring message of support to the Black Stars ahead of their opening match against Panama at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, despite missing the tournament through injury.
The 29-year-old, who recently returned to competitive football after spending more than three years sidelined by injury, took to Instagram to reflect on his enduring bond with the national team and the significance of representing Ghana.
Kyereh, who was not included in Ghana’s World Cup squad as he continues his recovery, stressed that wearing the national colours means far more than football.
“Wearing this badge has never been just football to me, it’s identity, it’s family, it’s home," he wrote.
“Every time I step onto this stage, I carry the voices, dreams, and belief of an entire nation with me. From my first call-up to every moment in between, Ghana has shaped who I am on and off the pitch.
“Tonight is another reminder of what it means to represent something bigger than yourself. Fight for each other, stay united, and trust the spirit that lives within this team.
“No matter the moment, we move as one. Always Ghana.”

Kyereh’s message comes as the Black Stars prepare to begin their World Cup campaign against Panama in a crucial Group-stage fixture. The match is widely regarded as a key test for Ghana’s hopes of advancing to the knockout stages.
After facing Panama, Ghana will take on England at Gillette Stadium on June 23 before concluding their group campaign against Croatia on June 27.
The four-time African champions are aiming to reach the knockout rounds of the World Cup for the first time since their historic run to the quarter-finals at the 2010 tournament in South Africa.
