2026 World Cup: Black Stars will crush their group opponents, says Kurt Okraku

Ghana Football Association (GFA) President Kurt Okraku has expressed strong confidence that the Black Stars will dominate their opponents in the group stage of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

The four-time African champions are set to make their fifth appearance at football’s biggest tournament, where they have been drawn in a challenging Group L alongside Panama, England and Croatia.

Ghana has struggled to progress beyond the group stage in recent editions, exiting at that hurdle in both the 2014 tournament in Brazil and the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

Speaking to members of the Ghanaian community in the United States, Okraku struck a bold tone about the team’s chances, insisting the side is ready to make a statement.

“We have three opponents at this World Cup: Panama, England and Croatia. We will crush all of them,” he said.

The Black Stars begin their campaign against Panama on Wednesday at BMO Field in Toronto, before taking on England at Gillette Stadium on June 23. Their final group match comes against Croatia on June 27.

The team is expected to arrive in Canada later on Monday as preparations intensify for their opening fixture.
