2026 World Cup: We will give our best and make Ghanaians proud - Black Stars goalkeeper Lawrence Ati-Zigi
Ghana goalkeeper Lawrence Ati-Zigi has expressed confidence in the Black Stars' ability to make the nation proud when they compete at the 2026 FIFA World Cup in North America.
The four-time African champions are set for their fifth appearance at football's biggest tournament, which will be jointly hosted by the United States, Canada and Mexico.
Ghana have been drawn in a challenging Group L alongside Panama, England and Croatia as they seek to improve on their recent World Cup performances.
The Black Stars suffered group-stage exits in both the 2014 tournament in Brazil and the 2022 edition in Qatar.
Speaking to Ghana Football Association media, Ati-Zigi praised the influence of head coach Carlos Queiroz, highlighting the Portuguese tactician's vast experience and knowledge ahead of the global showpiece.
"He’s a very experienced coach. He has a lot of information. We just have to take the good information he gives us and try to make use of it," the St. Gallen shot-stopper said.
Ati-Zigi also stressed the determination within the squad to fight for the nation and deliver performances that will make Ghanaians proud despite the difficult task that awaits them in the group stage.
"The expectation is teamwork. We’re going to fight to the end. We’re going to give it all, and we hope that we’ll make Ghanaians proud," Ati-Zigi added.
