2026 World Cup: Didi Dramani backs Black Stars' push, hails positive camp atmosphere

Former Hearts of Oak head coach Didi Dramani has expressed strong optimism about Ghana’s preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, pointing to what he describes as an encouraging and well-spirited camp environment.

The Black Stars are currently in the United States, stepping up preparations for the tournament, where they have been drawn in Group L alongside Panama, England and Croatia.

Speaking in an interview with Asempa FM, Dramani, a former Black Stars assistant coach praised the unity within the squad and backed head coach Carlos Queiroz to shape a disciplined and competitive team capable of making an impact on the global stage.

"The energy in the Black Stars squad for the World Cup is marvellous, and Carlos Queiroz will do his best to organise the team, stay compact defensively, and avoid conceding goals in the tournament," Dramani said.

The team has since relocated its training base to the facilities of Major League Soccer side D.C. United as they enter the final phase of their preparations.

Ghana will open their Group L campaign against Panama on June 17 at BMO Field, before taking on England on June 23 at Gillette Stadium. Their final group match will be against Croatia on June 27.

The four-time African champions are targeting a return to the knockout stages for the first time since 2010, having exited at the group stage in both the 2014 and 2022 editions.
