Stanley Purl Menzo's experience will help Asante Kotoko to build a winning structure - James Osei Brown

Asante Kotoko Executive Chairman James Osei Brown has welcomed the appointment of former Netherlands international Stanley Menzo as the club’s new Director of Football, describing the move as a key step in the Porcupine Warriors’ restructuring process.

The Ghanaian giants confirmed Menzo’s arrival on a two-year deal as part of a broader effort to stabilise and strengthen the club’s sporting operations following a disappointing campaign.

Brown expressed confidence in the Dutchman’s profile and experience, noting that his background would be valuable to Kotoko’s long-term ambitions.

“Stanley Menzo brings a rare combination of elite playing experience, proven leadership and genuine global perspective," Osei Brown said.

“We are confident that his expertise will help us build a sustainable, winning structure of which our supporters can be proud of," he added.

Kotoko endured a difficult 2024/25 season, finishing eighth in the league with 49 points after a turbulent run that saw them rotate through three different head coaches.

The club recorded 13 wins, 10 draws and 11 defeats in 34 matches, with Karim Zito, Prince Yaw Owusu and Hamza Yaw Obeng all taking turns in the dugout during a campaign marked by inconsistency.

Menzo’s appointment is seen as part of a wider attempt to bring continuity and technical direction back to the Kumasi-based side as they look to rebuild for the future.
