2026 World Cup: Black Stars arrive in USA to continue preparations
The Black Stars of Ghana have arrived safely in the United States of America to step up preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The senior national team departed Cardiff on Wednesday, June 3, after several weeks of training in Wales. The squad, comprising players, technical staff and team officials, has since settled in Providence, Rhode Island, where their training camp is based.
Head coach Carlos Queiroz travelled with his final 26-man squad, which was confirmed on Monday, June 1.
Ghana concluded a key phase of their build-up on Tuesday, June 2, with a friendly match at Cardiff City Stadium. Caleb Yirenkyi put the Black Stars ahead in the second half, but the hosts fought back late on, with Lewis Koumas scoring to secure a draw after defensive lapses from the visitors.
The result marked the end of the Wales training phase, with focus now shifting to tactical refinement, team cohesion and final adjustments ahead of the global tournament.
The Black Stars are scheduled to play another friendly against Jamaica on June 10 as part of their final preparations.
Ghana, who will be making their fifth World Cup appearance, have been drawn in Group L alongside Panama, England and Croatia. They begin their campaign on June 17 against Panama, before facing England on June 23 and Croatia on June 27.
The four-time African champions will be hoping to advance beyond the group stage for the first time since their memorable quarter-final run at the 2010 FIFA World Cup.
