Three Ghanaian players relegated

Andre Ayew, Kamal Sowah and Denis Odoi have been relegated from the Dutch league with NAC Breda after a poor 2025-26 season.

Breda were officially relegated after FC Volendam drew 1-1 with Excelsior Rotterdam in the second-to-last game of the season.

The draw gave Volendam 32 points, while Breda stayed on 25 points with only two games left.

Breda’s game against SC Heerenveen was stopped because of crowd trouble involving fireworks. But other match results confirmed that Breda would go down to the second division.

Even if Breda win their last two matches, they still cannot avoid relegation.

Ayew joined the club in January as a free agent to help them stay in the top division.

But the former Black Stars captain scored only one goal in 16 league matches during a difficult season.

Sowah and Odoi were also part of the Breda team that struggled throughout the campaign and will now play in the second division next season.
